A 'common lizard, Podarcis muralis, this was taken at Montsegur in the south of France, an awesome place for many reasons. The day this was taken was strongly sunny after a very cold night and while the south side wall was 15 degrees C the north wall was 2 degrees C with snow ! The lizards not surprising favoured the south wall. I used on camera flash to 'lift' the lizard from the background, this was taken on a 150mm macro lens on a c sensor at f22, 1/100 sec at 200 iso the fill in flash not only allowed the seperation but it gave me the 'freeze' to keep it sharp. Flash works well in macro IF balanced with normal daylight!
