Pair of Aces
The WPF Aces Competitions took place in Trealaw on 19th February.
There were 12 clubs participating in the Ace of Clubs competition for digital images. This was won by Inn Focus with 298 points. Tenby were second with 293 and Gwynfa third with 290. We (ie. Vale) were seventh with a creditable 264 points. Both Tenby and Gwynfa will represent Wales in the PAGB Club Championships in the autumn (Inn Focus automatically qualify because they were finalists last year).
There were 7 clubs participating in the Ace of Prints competition for prints. This was won by Inn Focus with 316 points. Western Valley were second with 280 and we (i.e.. Vale) were third with 264 points. That means that our club and Western valley will represent Wales in the PAGB Championships in the autumn (again, Inn Focus automatically qualify because they were finalists last year).
The judges marked hard but our images were received well and we should be delighted with our clubs performance. The following members had one or more images used in one or both rounds of the competitions: Mike Davies, Mike Baker, Mark Lunn, Tom Dunlop, Bridget Craddock, Terry Verrinder, Peter Dennis, Nick Craddock, Nick Thornton, Paul Tromans, Guy Butler-Madden, Mick Rogers. I will send scores for images to those members by separate emails.
Whilst mildly embarrassing for me to report, for completeness I should record we received the ribbon for best digital image (“Wild ponies in mist” by Nick Craddock) and for best monochrome print (“London rain” by Nick Craddock).
Many thanks to all members for contributing images and to Gerald Harbour, Guy Butler-Madden and Terry Verrinder for coming to the competition to support the club and offer advice regarding image section for round 2 of each competition.
