Dance in the Dunes
Bare flash is not something I like - the shadows are too hard and the light can be very harsh on human features. On this night the plan was to get a beautiful sunset in the background and use a touch of flash to fill-in the unlit side of the model. Near the equator, the transition from light to dark is very quick so we were ready in good time. However, atmospheric conditions weren't favourable and we didn't get the sunset we were hoping for. So ramped up the flash a bit and used it to freeze the movement of the model as she lept about in the dunes. High ISO was needed so as to get some light from the sky (which was fading rapidly) hence there's quite a bit of noise in the image. It was still a good exercise in thinking fast and making the most of the situation that was available.
