VPC Quick guide To Competitions

• There are usually SIX internal competitions per year.

• Then at the end of the season your best TWO prints the year get entered into the

ROBIN POWELL MEMORIAL TROPHY competition.

(the two prints that YOU think are your best - after you have improves them as a judge has

suggested - or not if you disagree with the judge - It’s your choice.)

• You may only enter a photograph once in a competition in a year.

• Each photograph is to be mounted on a board/card in your preferred manner - but no mount can

be larger then 400mm by 500mm.

You may print on A3 or A4 paper that is your choice.

For Club competitions images supplied for a projector must be a jpeg file sized at a maximum of

768 pixels for the vertical side. They can either be 72 ppi or 300ppi.

For external competitions and salons and exhibitions the images should be a tiff file sized at

a maximum of 1400 pixels for the horizontal side or a maximum of 1050 pixels for the vertical side

and must be 300ppi. They should then be no more than 2.2 megapixels each

• There are also usually a few small internal fun competitions per year. These can be mounted on

any size card but not larger than 400mm by 500mm.

• As a club affiliated to the Welsh Photographic Federation we enter several WPF competitions per

year and also we are involved in battles with other clubs. Your club has a selection committee

which chooses entries for these by an unbiased voting method. Every member of the club may

put forward prints to be considered, but the prints must be mounted on 400mm by 500mm board.

Remember - all prints for internal competitions MUST be with the competition secretary

TWO WEEKS before the date of the competition.

The Competition Secretary is Andy Baker email

All prints chosen for external competitions are the property of the selection committee for as long as

necessary.
