About The Vale Photographic Club in South Wales
We number about 50 and, in normal times, meet on most Friday evenings (Sep - Jun) at 7.15pm in Ystradowen Village Hall (behind the Meadow Vale Inn - previously the White Lion Pub). Please use the hall car park (through the gate) rather than the restaurant's parking spaces. The hall has easy wheelchair access. see map. The majority of our members are high risk from Covid-19 and are currently shielding so face to face meetings are not possible. We have a full programme taking place via Zoom until we able to safely meet together again.
We aim to arrange a varied and interesting programme to suit all tastes throughout the year. Presentations from guest speakers and our own members, practical sessions, demonstrations, social outings, photographic trips and a number of competitions which are open to all members. The club no longer takes part in 'battles' with other clubs within Wales and the rest of the UK but we hope to give exposure to the work of as many members as possible through exhibitions and by helping other community groups if they need photographers. We currently have three exhibitions each year and are always on the lookout for other venues in which to display our members' work. We have a Facebook page where members can post images for comment and for fun.
“The Vale”, as we are affectionately known as by other clubs, is a well established club affiliated to the Welsh Photographic Federation. We have a long history and have enjoyed much success in both national and international exhibitions. Our more experienced members are willing to offer a wealth of help and guidance to novice photographers. We all remember that even experts were beginners once, and to that end assistance and advice are always available. We take our photography very seriously but, above all, we aim to have fun.
