Awards Night 2017
Judge: Harry Gardiner AWPF
Each year the winning prints and PDIs from our six monthly comps go forward into the Winner of Winners competition.
The Cordon Bleu was the highest award for gallantry given by the Bourbon Kings of France. It has since been used for recognition of excellence in many other fields. We have replaced the cheap medals of previous years with this Blue Ribbon - hope you like it.
As our Awards Night is almost upon us I thought it might be helpful for new members to provide a few words of explanation of what happens on this evening. But before I get into any detail please note that the hand in date for all entries for the Plate Competition is 26 May. Harry Gardiner lives in Tenby and I shall be delivering the prints to him on 27/28 May.
Winner of Winners
As the title suggest our judges task is to choose the best images from the winners of each of our six competitions. There are separate awards for the best print and best PDI. According to my records the entries are as listed in the attached Word file and Nick Craddock will follow up this message with another Valeflash in which he will list which prints he already has so that members can be sure to let me have any missing ones by 26 May.
The Plate Competitions
Members who have not been a winner of any of our six print/PDI competitions this season may enter the Plate print competition and/or the Plate PDI competition. To avoid doubt if you are named anywhere in the attached list you may not enter either.
Eligible members can enter one print and one PDI of their choice so long as they have not been a previous club competition winner at any time or Plate entry in any previous year. This means you can enter a print/PDI that scored well in one of our competitions but did not win, or images we have not seen before.
The usual housekeeping rules apply:
1. print mounts should be 50 cm X 40 cm;
2. PDI’s should not exceed 1920 X 1080 pixels.
3. Labels on the back of prints and file names for PDI’s should include individual membership numbers and image titles.
