St. Fagan's Loom
Upstairs in the old Mill at St Fagans is a room with a couple of old hand looms. I had recently visited, and had wanted to photograph it but not had with me my DSLR, which I felt was essential for getting a decent image. The lighting is very subdued, and there is little room for moving around to gain differing shot angles, or for mounting a tripod. I knew that focusing, and control of depth of field were going to be challenging, and that a high ISO was going to be needed to enable it to be hand held.
This photo was the result of a return visit. Taken with a Canon 5D Mk iii, Canon 24-105 f4 lens at 40 mm, handheld at 1/13 sec, f4, ISO 3200.
It is just how I wanted it to be. I can almost smell the wool as I look at it!
